Department of Physical Education
It was in the year 1880, Rajaram College was founded in Kolhapur and immediately in the year 1881 Gymkhana of our college was established under the Presidentship of His Highness Shivaji Chhatrapati Maharaj. Rajaram College had added another feather in its cap with the introduction of Physical Education. Bombay University passed a resolution making Physical Education a compulsory subject in 1932. Rajaram College was the first one to introduce in its curriculum.
Many great personalities who were the students of this evergreen college of 120 years have brought laurels to this college in sports. Several shining stars of the great Rajaram College, Kolhapur have created a galaxy of performances in the field of sports during the period from 1880 till date. Many of the sports stars of this college have not only reached the national and international levels but they have kept horizons of success expanding by creating several unbreakable records against their names.
The Department has conducted various activities for the students and staff of this college as well as for the community. These activities mainly involves (i) Training camp for the candidates trying to participate in Police Recruitment (2) Cricket Training Camp for the children in the vicinity aged between 10 to 17 years (3) Yoga training for students and staff in the college (4) Yoga Classes at Krantisinh Nana Patil Nagar, Kolhapur for the Community. (5) An aerobics camp is organised for the staff and students of the college every year.
